Mr. R is a 35-year-old gentleman who has struggled lot in life, saved every penny forgone many pleasures in life so that he could buy a cab. But ‘his the happiness did not remain many days as he reported visual disturbances -not seeing the traffic up front clearly. The eye doctor checked his BP and it was 200 /120. His retina got damaged due to high BP and unfortunately his dreams collapsed. Mrs S, who is 55-year-old.. had never visited doctor in her life has been brought with sudden paralysis of left side of a body. Her recorded BP was 220/140. CT scan of brain showed bleeding in the brain. Despite best efforts, she could only partially regain from paralysis and now cannot attend the household chores as before.

Mr Y , 44-year- who has the clean habits , walks daily and takes vegetarian food -came to hospital with lack of appetite, swollen face and feet, weight loss and recent answer of vomitings.. his BP was 180/100. Blood tests revealed that both kidneys got damaged permanently and he has to be on lifelong dialysis, Mrs D, 66 years old came with difficulty in breathing ,fatigue and chest pain. She is a teacher and active throughout her life. How to BP in hospital was 180/90. The tests reported heart failure due to long standing and uncontrolled BP. In all about cases, the persons were not aware that they had BP. It is true to everybody that we cannot “feel” BP. BP is a silent killer. Everybody after age 20 years should you check their BP and annual basis. And if high, should see doctor for treatment. Then only we can avoid complications as above. It’s unfortunate that only 25% of people who have BP are under treatment. Awareness about this silent killer is the need of the hour to save lives and to save from permanent disability
